Zelektro.be

Zelektro.be sells electrical supplies to both DIY enthusiasts and trade professionals (electricians, installers, contractors, and more). They offer next-day delivery, competitive pricing, and a PRO account system built specifically for business customers.
Zelektro.be had a strong product, but no structured way to actively reach new customers. Most new business came through word of mouth or Google. On top of that, signing up for a PRO account was a hassle: long forms, manual activation, and a 24-hour wait just to see prices.
In short: people were clicking through to the website, but the path to actually becoming a customer was too bumpy.
We built an outreach campaign from the ground up: finding the right people, reaching out to them personally, and making sure every reply got picked up immediately.
Step 1: Building the right list
Using Google Maps, we identified relevant businesses across Flanders: electricians, installers, contractors. We enriched that data with contact details via Clay, then filtered out duplicates and existing customers. The result: 2,429 unique prospects, ready to be approached.
Step 2: Personal emails at scale
Using Lemlist, we sent a sequence of three emails. Each one read as if Zeno (Application Manager at Zelektro) had written it personally, nothing that felt like a mass mailing. The tone was simple and direct: "Where do you currently order your supplies? We'd be happy to set up an account for you."
Step 3: Replies as the goal, not clicks
Most campaigns funnel people to a website. We did the opposite: we simply asked prospects to reply to the email. That turned out to be far more effective: anyone who replied got personal help from Zeno or Ken, who set up their account and sent over the login details directly. No complicated forms, no waiting around.
Step 4: Weekly fine-tuning
Every week, we review the numbers together with the Zelektro.be team: what's working, what isn't. That steady rhythm led to quick improvements: a stronger subject line when open rates dipped, a dedicated campaign for architects once it became clear they had unusually high click rates, and a fully translated French-language version for Wallonia.
The results after 6 months
open rate (industry average: 20–35%)
click rate (industry average: 2–5%)
direct conversations (genuine replies from professionals)
delivery rate (emails landing in inboxes, not spam folders)
Why this works
- A simple CTA: "Just hit reply" lowers the barrier to engagement enormously
- Personal contact: every reply is handled by a real person, not a bot
- Weekly fine-tuning: fast adjustments based on real data
- Targeted lists: you reach the right people, not everyone
Beyond Flanders, the approach expanded organically into Wallonia (603 prospects), a dedicated campaign for architects (1,600 prospects), and a retargeting campaign for people who clicked but never replied.
A successful outreach campaign isn't about picking the right tool. It's about building the right feedback loops: gathering data, spotting patterns, adjusting, and doing it all over again every single week.
